Coal India Limited (CIL) is looking at green mining options by leveraging a slew of eco-friendly technologies in both underground and opencast mines in order to minimise adverse environmental impact.
CIL is exploring to ramp up its underground production by four-fold to reach 100 million tonnes (mt) by 2029-30 from 25.6 mt in 2021-22. Production from underground mines is environmentally clean, minimally invasive on land degradation and society friendly. The move would help in augmenting the production and reduce the adverse impact on environment.
