28 energy projects to undergo system impact studies in the Philippines

The Department of Energy (DOE) has recommended about 28 new energy projects to the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) to undergo system impact studies in the Philippines.

System impact study will assess the impact of a proposed interconnection or transmission service on the transmission system’s safety and reliability. Some of the projects endorsed include the 30 MW Southern Negros Energy Storage System (ESS), 30 MW Bacon-Manito ESS, 30 MW Tongonan ESS, 30 MW Northern Negros ESS, 100 MW Burgos 4 wind project and 100 MW Burgos 3 project. These six projects have been proposed for development by the Energy Development Corporation (EDC). Other projects include PV Sinag Power Incorporated’s 171.85 MW Olongapo solar power project in Zambales, SN Aboitiz Power-Benguet Incorporated’s 40 MW Ambuklao ESS in Benguet Province, SN Aboitiz Power-Magat Incorporated’s 4 MW Magat battery ESS in Isabela and Aboitiz Solar Power Incorporated’s 137.48 MWAC Calatrava solar power project in Negros Occidental. Meanwhile, CleanTech Global Renewables Incorporated’s 1,200 MW Bulalacao Bay Offshore wind energy project and 330 MW Bulalacao One Onshore wind energy project have also been endorsed to the NGCP. The 28 MW Sangali diesel power plant in Zamboanga del Sur owned by San Miguel Consolidated Power Corporation has also been recommended to undergo the system impact study.
