Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has proposed setting up 2,375 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across the state of Maharashtra by 2025.
Recently, the state government has also approved the Maharashtra Electric Vehicle Policy-2021. Under the new policy, a total of 2,375 EV charging infrastructure will be deployed in the state with 1,500 stations in Brihanmumbai city group, 500 in Pune city group, 150 in Nagpur city group, 100 in Nashik city group, 75 in Aurangabad city group, 30 in Amravati among others. Out of the 500 EV charging stations that were announced back in 2018, only 13 have been built – Pune and Thane have five, New Mumbai has two, and Nagpur has one. Installation work of 49 EV charging stations is underway in the state.
