Energy Development Corporation (EDC) has secured a 10-year power supply contract from One Bohol Power (1BP) distribution utilities to supply power to the island of Bohol in the Philippines.
The supply contract will enable EDC to supply electricity to Bohol from 2024 to 2033. Under the contract, the company will supply 50 to 83 MW of electricity, sourced from its Unified Leyte geothermal power plant. As a backup power source, EDC will also build an 85.12 MW diesel-fired power plant. The supply of renewable energy from EDC’s geothermal facility will offset around 312,355 to 524,757 tons of carbon emissions in lieu of coal each year.
