SJVN Limited has entered into an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract with Solarworld Energy Solutions Private Limited to build two solar power projects in Uttar Pradesh for Rs 6.91 billion.
The projects have a total capacity of 125 MW. The two projects are 75 MW solar project at Gurah district Jalaun and 50 MW solar project at Gujrai district Kanpur Dehat. The contract value for 75 MW solar project is Rs 4.11 billion, while for 50 MW solar project is Rs 2.80 billion. The EPC contracts include end-to-end delivery of the commissioned solar plant to SJVN, including comprehensive operation and maintenance of these solar photovoltic plants for two years. Notably, SJVN had secured these projects through the tariff-based competitive bidding process conducted by Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA). The company had quoted a tariff of Rs 2.98 per unit for both solar projects and power generated from these projects will be procured by Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited for 25 years. The Gurah project will generate 159 million units (MUs) of energy annually with capacity utilisation factor (CUF) of 24.22 per cent, while the Gujrai project will generate 106 MUs of energy annually with CUF of 24.20 per cent. Both the projects are scheduled to be commissioned by April 2023.
