CIL authorises PT Bara Daya Energy to import 791,000 tonnes coal

Coal India Limited (CIL) has given the contract to PT Bara Daya Energy consortium to import 791,000 tonnes of coal for supplying to gencos during August and September 2022.

The gencos that have expressed their willingness to buy imported coal are CESC Limited, Adhunik Power and Natural Resources Limited, RattanIndia Power Limited, Sai Wardha Power Generation Private Limited, Avantha Power and Infrastructure Limited, Jindal India Thermal Power Limited, Lanco Amarkantak Power Limited, KSK Energy Ventures, ACB (India) Limited and D B Power Private Limited. While 429,500 tonnes of coal would be imported for the month of August 2022, 361,500 tonnes would be shipped for the month of September 2022. Reportedly, CIL in its board meeting held on July 8, 2022, decided to cancel the short-term tender of 2.416 mt and supply the indented imported coal quantity against medium-term tender of east and west coast.
