Government of Burkina Faso and GreenYellow inaugurate 30 MW Nagréongo solar plant

The Government of Burkina Faso has inaugurated Nagréongo 30 MW photovoltaic (PV) power plant in Oubritenga Province.

The solar plant is built under a public-private partnership between the Ministry of Energy of Burkina Faso and the French renewable energy company, GreenYellow. The power produced by the Nagreongo PV plant will be sold to the national electricity company of Burkina Faso, SONABEL, under a 25-year take or pay power purchase agreement (PPA) signed in 2019. GreenYellow has received a grant of € 21 million from the Dutch development bank, FMO for setting up the Nagréongo solar plant. Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA), the subsidiary of the World Bank Group, provided a guarantee of € 4.5 million for the construction, operation, and maintenance of the power plant.
