Keppel Energy Nexus has announced plans to pilot a membrane-based nearshore floating solar photovoltaic (PV) system at Jurong Island in Singapore.
This is set to be the first of its kind of renewable system in the country. The company has also secured a grant for the project from Singapore’s Energy Market Authority (EMA) and JTC Corporation (JTC). The pilot run is scheduled to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2023. The PV system will comprise a total of three circular platforms and have an installed capacity of 1.5 MWp. The membranes will be protected by a high-density polyethylene pipe structure, allowing Keppel to generate solar energy even during harsh sea conditions.
