Karnataka to import 0.4 million tonnes of coal during 2022-23

Karnataka has placed an order to import aroud 0.4 million tonnes of the coal during 2022-23.

The move is in line with the central government’s directions to states to import 10 per cent of coal to ease stress on the already stretched domestic allocation within the nation. The state has placed an order with Coal India Limited (CIL) for two months’ supply as a short-term measure. CIL is likely to source the quantity from an Indonesia-based consortium.
