MSEDCL declares results for 500 MW solar projects’ auction

The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has announced the results of auction to purchase power from 500 MW of grid-connected intra-state solar projects (Phase-VII) on a long-term basis.

SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL), Juniper Green Energy Private Limited, Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited, Sukhbir Agro Energy Limited (SAEL), and Avaada Energy Private Limited were declared as the winners of this auction. SGEL and Juniper secured 200 MW and 75 MW capacities respectively at quotes of Rs 2.90 per kWh. Tata Power and SAEL have been alloted capacity of 150 MW and 50 MW respectively wherein each quoted Rs 2.91 per kWh. Avaada quoted Rs 2.91 per kWh for 300 MW, but got allotted only 25 MW under the bucket filling method. The tender was floated in June 2022 for procuring 500 MW of solar power on a long term basis from grid-connected intrastate projects. According to the tender guidelines, MSEDCL will be entering into a power purchase agreement (PPA) with the shortlisted bidders selected for 25 years from the planned date of commercial operation in case of porposed or new solar power projects, or for 25 years from the date the PPA was executed in case of existing solar power projects.
