Infra assets worth over Rs 1,624.22 billion to be monetised during 2022-23

Infrastructure assets worth over Rs 1,624.22 billion are expected to be monetised during 2022-23.

The various transactions proposed to be undertaken during 2022-23 include highway toll-operate-transfer (TOT) bundles and Infrastructure Investment Trust (InvIT) future rounds, redevelopment of sports stadia, operational power generation and transmission assets, lease of airports through public-private partnership (PPP), PPP projects at various port trusts, development of silos and warehouses, monetisation of tower assets and mining assets. In 2021, the central government had announced a Rs 6,000 billion National Monetisation Pipeline (NMP) to unlock value in infrastructure assets in four years till 2025. The sectors identified under the NMP include roads, ports, airports, railways, warehousing, gas and product pipelines, power generation and transmission, mining, telecom, stadium and urban real estate. Notably, about Rs 970 billion worth of public assets were monetised in 2021-22.
