Vietnamese EVNNPT energises 500 kV Vung Ang–Quang Trach line

Electricity of Vietnam’s National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT) has energised the 500 kV Vung Ang–Quang Trach line. Construction of the 32-km line between the 500 kV substations of Vung Ang (Ha Tinh) and Quang Trach (Quang Binh) initially faced several problems related to site clearance.

This marks the completion of the larger Vung Ang–Quang Trach–Doc Soi–Pleiku 2 project with a total investment of VND11,949 billion. It included the construction of nearly 742 km of double-circuit 500 kV power lines passing through nine provinces/cities; eight 500 kV bays at the distribution switchyard of Quang Trach Power Center; and three optical repeater stations and three power transmission fleet operation management buildings, as well as expansion of 500 kV bays at the Vung Ang, Doc Soi and Pleiku 2 substations. The Vung Ang–Quang Trach–Doc Soi– Pleiku 2 project has three components: 500 kV Quang Trach–Vung Ang power line and 500 kV distribution switchyard of Quang Trach Power Center (recently energised); 500 kV Quang Trach–Doc Soi power line (energised in May 2022); and 500 kV Doc Soi–Pleiku 2 power line (energised in June 2021). Construction of the project was initiated in December 2018. The entire project will be managed and operated by the Central Project Management Board (CPMB).
