Nepal gives India two power projects quit by China

NHPC Limited has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Investment Board Nepal for preparation of detailed project report (DPR) and development of two hydropower projects namely West Seti (750 MW) and Seti River 6 project (450 MW) in Nepal.

China’s biggest hydropower developer, Three Gorges International Corporation, was previously lined up to develop the West Seti plant, but Nepal scrapped the deal in 2017 amid haggling over the terms. India is already constructing a 900 MW hydropower project on the Arun River in east Nepal at a cost $1.04 billion.
