Central government issues new list on power dues

The central government has updated its portal Payment Ratification And Analysis in Power procurement for bringing Transparency in Invoicing of generators (PRAAPTI) and released a fresh list of states having outstanding dues of over Rs 10 million.

The central agency has named 11 power distribution companies of six states which have outstanding more than Rs 10 million. The states include Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, Mizoram and Tamil Nadu. As on August 19, 2022, these states had to clear their bills amounting to Rs 13.72 billion. Rajasthan’s Ajmer Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited, Jodhpur Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited, Jaipur Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited and Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited will have to clear their current bills Rs 0.90 billion, Rs 1.39 billion, Rs 0.99 billion and Rs 0.13 billion respectively. Similarly, Tamil Nadu’s Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Limited and Tamil Nadu Electricity Board – will have to clear their bills amounting to Rs 0.72 billion and Rs 0.016 billion respectively. Meanwhile, Karnataka’s Gulbarga Electricity Supply Company Limited and Hubli Electricity Supply Company Limited– will have to pay an outstanding amount Rs 0.45 billion and Rs 1.79 billion respectively. Madhya Pradesh Power Management Company Limited, Jammu and Kashmir Power Distribution Department and Mizoram Power Department will have to clear their dues of Rs 2.41 billion, Rs 4.67 billion and Rs 0.26 billion respectively.
