Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has commissioned a green hydrogen plant at its AM Naik Heavy Engineering Complex in Hazira, Gujarat. The plant will produce 45 kg of green hydrogen daily, which will be used for captive consumption. The plant is designed for an electrolyser capacity of 800 kW and will be powered by a rooftop solar plant of 990 kW peak DC capacity and a 500 kWh battery energy storage system. The scope of the project includes the production of high purity green hydrogen and oxygen, as well as their captive consumption in the manufacturing shops. This venture is in line with L&T’s Lakshya 2026 climate leadership targets, which will help alleviate the company’s and its clients’ greenhouse gas footprint by approximately 300 tonnes per year.
