RIL to enter captive offshore wind power

Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) is planning to set up captive offshore wind power projects with up to 5 MW capacity initially, and increase later.

The projects are likely to come up in Gujarat. In October 2021, RIL’s new energy subsidiary, Reliance New Energy Limited had signed a co-operating pact with Denmark-based Stiesdal A/S (Stiesdal) for tech development, and manufacturing of Stiesdal’s hydrogen electrolysers in India. As part of the agreement, the companies have also partnered to collaborate in areas including offshore wind energy, next generation fuel cells for conversion of hydrogen to electricity for mobile and static electricity generation, long duration energy storage and production of carbon negative fuels.
