Shanghai Electric completes Phase B of 900-MW fifth phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park

Shanghai Electric has announced that Phase B of the 900-MW fifth phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park has been completed in Dubai.

Upon commissioning, the project will provide 2.268 billion kWh of power supply per year, enough to serve more than 240,000 homes, and capable of eliminating1.1 million tonnes of carbon emission annually. Phase A was connected to the grid in 2021 and work on Phase C is underway whichis expected to complete in 2023. Notably, ACWA Power, the owner, developer and operator of the fifth phase of the solar park appointed Shanghai Electric as the engineering, procurement and construction contractor for the project in 2020. In July 2020, the company started construction at the project in three phases, including Phases A, B and C, with a total installed capacity of 1,050MW.
