Hindalco Industries Limited has commissioned a 25 MW captive solar power plant at its Mahan aluminium smelting unit in Singrauli district of Madhya Pradesh.
The captive solar power plant will be used to generate power for organisational requirements as well as for aluminium production at the Mahan unit. The plant is expected to generate approximately 550 million units of electricity annually, which would reduce the consumption of 35,000 tonnes of coal, as well as reduce carbon emissions by 52,000 tonnes.
