Vedanta emerges as the highest bidder for 2 coal blocks in Odisha

The Ministry of Coal has conducted e-auction of two mines under commercial coal mining auction on the second day.

Vedanta Limited has emerged as the highest bidder for Ghogharpalli and its Dip Extension coal mine in Odisha. Both the coal mines are Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) coal mines and are fully explored. The total geological reserves for the coal mines are 1,288.28 million tonnes (mt) and the peak rated capacity (PRC) for the coal mines is 20 mt per annum (mtpa). Under the commercial coal mining auction process, a total of 57 coal mines, including the ten coal mines auctioned in second attempt of Tranche-4 and Tranche-5, have been successfully auctioned so far with a total cumulative PRC of 140.75 mtpa.
