KETRACO energises 400 kV transmission line

State-owned Kenya Electricity Transmission Company Limited (KETRACO) has energised the 100-km-long, 400 kV Suswa–Isinya transmission line.

This is the first 400 kV line in Kenya. The line was so far operating at 220 kV after its completion in 2017. The project is a part of the Nairobi Metropolitan Ring Scheme, which aims to increase transfer capacity to meet the city of Nairobi’s rising demand and enhance power security by providing alternative electricity paths.
