The UAE’s Ducab Group has recently been awarded the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract to supply and install 400 kV cables and accessories for the 2 GW under-construction Al Dhafra solar power plant.
The cables will connect the plant to the Abu Dhabi Transmission and Despatch Company (TRANSCO), a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority (ADWEA). The scope of work for the company also entails testing and commissioning of the equipment. Â Notably, this is the third contract for a large-scale solar project awarded to Ducab in the UAE, which has previously supplied cables for the 100 MW Shams photovoltaic plant (operational) in Abu Dhabi and the 5 GW Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum solar park (under development) in Dubai.
