Power generation has grown at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 4.91 per cent to reach 1,484 BUs in 2021-22 from 965 BUs in 2012-13. Thermal generation accounted for 75 per cent of the total generation in 2021-22, renewables accounted for 12 per cent and hydro accounted for 10 per cent, while nuclear accounted for 3 per cent.
The national plant load factor (PLF) of thermal power stations registered an increase from 54.5 per cent in 2020-21 to 58.8 per cent in 2021-22.
