Coal India’s capital expenditure rises to Rs 70.27 billion in April-September 2022

Coal India Limited’s capital expenditure has grown by 33 per cent to Rs 70.27 billion in April-September 2022 as compared to the year-ago period.

The company’s capex in the year-ago period stood at Rs 53 billion. The two coal evacuation infrastructure heads – setting up of coal handling plants (CHP)/silos and railways lines – together accounted for 36 per cent (Rs 25.47 billion) of the total capex in the period under review. Construction of CHPs/silos under first mile connectivity was the major capex head at Rs 14.89 billion during the six-month period of 2022-23, as compared to Rs 6.14 billion a year ago.
