Italian cable producer Prysmian Group has secured a contract worth EUR60 million for laying submarine cables for the already secured Project Lighting high voltage direct current (HVDC) 320 kV interconnection project in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The scope of work entails laying 134 km of ±320 kV HVDC submarine cable system. Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and Abu Dhabi National Energy Company PJSC (TAQA) announced Project Lighting, a USD3.8 billion strategic initiative to power and significantly decarbonise ADNOC’s offshore production operations. The project had successfully achieved its financial closure in September 2022.
