The Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL) has been directed to work for achieving the production target of 50 million tonne (mt) during 2022-23 to meet the energy requirement of the country.
Notably, ECL produced 45 mt of coal in 2021-22. Further, several infrastructure projects that would help increase coal-loading capacity and control the pollution caused by coal production and dispatch have been inaugurated.
