NTPC records y-o-y growth of 48 per cent in coal mining

With a coal production of 12.24 million tonnes (mt) till November 2022 in 2022-23 compared with 8.27 mt of coal production in the same period of previous year, NTPC Limited’s coal mining has portrayed a phenomenal year-on-year (y-o-y) production growth of 48 per cent.

The four operational coal mines viz. Pakri-Barwadih (Jharkhand), Chatti Bariatu (Jharkhand), Dulanga (Odisha) and Talaipalli (Chhattisgarh) have contributed in acomplishing the highest ever monthly coal production of 2.047 mt in November 2022 since their inception. Further, Pakri Barwadih coal mine has also achieved the highest ever coal production of 1.224 mt for a month since its commencement. So far, the captive mines have delivered 58.42 mt of coal to more than 22 power plants of NTPC. Along with this coal production, NTPC has also attained the highest ever monthly overburden removal of 8.349 million cubic meter.
