Electricity of Vietnam’s (EVN) subsidiary, National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT), along with Central Power Project Management Board (CPMB), has completed the energisation of the 500 kV Van Phong transformer substation and associated transmission lines 27 days ahead of schedule.
It involved a total investment of VND1,100 billion. The project entailed the installation of two transformers with a capacity of 900 MVA each, six feeders of 500 kV, 13 feeders of 220 kV, and 26.1-km-long, 220 kV line from the 500 kV Van Phong substation to the 220 kV Van Phong substation. The project will help in commencing trial generation of the Van Phong 1 thermal power plant and upcoming renewable energy power projects in Ninh Thuan, Khanh Hoa, and Phu Yen provinces. The 500 kV Van Phong transmission facilities were included as an urgent power project in the National Power Development Planning VII (adjusted project). The new substation aims to improve Vietnam’s power system’s stability, ensuring reliability and safety of the power supply.
