CREST to install rooftop solar plants in Chandigarh

The Chandigarh Renewable Energy and Science and Technology Promotion Society (CREST) plans to install rooftop solar power plants in Chandigarh with an aggregate capacity of 2,250 kWp at an investment of Rs 130 million.

Grid-connected rooftop solar power plants aggregating 1,350 kWp capacity, with high power evacuation, will be installed on the three material recovery facilities of the municipal corporation. Each of these plants will have a capacity of 450 kWp. This will cost around Rs 70 million. Further, five small power plants of 80 kWp each will be installed at flats of Armed Police Complex, Dhanas. The aggregate capacity of these plants will be 400 kWp, entailing a cost of Rs 20 million. The work is expected to be completed in four months. Rooftop of the parking of the inter-state bus terminal, Sector 43, will have a 300 kWp rooftop solar power plant. Meanwhile, the parking area at Garden of Conifers, Sector 52, will have a capacity of 200 kWp. The project will cost around Rs 26.2 million and is expected to be completed within six months after the work is allotted.
