Raman Chadha has rich and diverse experience encompassing more than 36 yeaÂrs in the oil and gas and petrocheÂmical sectors. He has been involvÂed in diverse functiÂons such as prÂoÂject deveÂlopmeÂnt, operations and maintenance, engineering maÂnaÂgement, cross-country natural gas transportation, compressors and gas turbine operations, and city gas distribution (CGD).
He is currently chief executive officer (CEO) of GAIL Gas Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of GAIL (India) LimiÂted engaged in the CGD business. He has been leading the company in India since August 2021 – a period that can best be described as unprecedented. Under his leadership, GAIL Gas has achieved operational excellence, and set benchmarks in expansion, benefitting the business, people and communities. GAIL Gas has been actively taking measures to capitalise on its assets, expedite projects, provide connectivity to all possible demand poinÂts, and exÂplore the liquefied natural gas market and internet technology-based solutions. The company is taking measures to supply natural gas through light commercial vehicles and setting up LNG stations at possible locations.
Going forward, Chadha believes that the adaptation of alternative fuels will contribute to a sustainable future. As such, he sees the future of natural gas with hydrogen blending and compreÂssed biogas.
Aside from his current role at GAIL Gas, Chadha provides active guidance to the company’s joint ventures (JVs). He is chairman of Haridwar Natural Gas Private Limited and Vadodara Gas LiÂmited. He is also director of Andhra Pradesh Gas DistriÂbution Corporation Limited (APGDC), Goa NaÂtural Gas Private Limited and Purba Bharati Gas PriÂvaÂte Limited. His strength lies in project reviews and evaluation of project execution. Prior to this assignÂmeÂÂÂnt, he was executive dirÂector at GAIL (India) LimiÂtÂed, heading the project development function. In his earlier roles, he has served as managing director of APGDC (a JV of GAIL Gas and the Government of Andhra Pradesh) and Green Gas Limited (a JV of GAIL (India) Limited and Indian Oil CorÂporation Limited). He has also worked in the area of exploÂraÂtion and production and was chief operating officer of GAIL Gas from 2012 to 2014.
Chadha has a master’s in electronics engineering and an MBA in international marketing.
