In a major relief to residential, commercial, agricultural, and industrial consumers, four state-run discoms have, reportedly, not proposed any hike in power tariffs for 2023-24 in Gujarat.
This is the sixth consecutive year that state-run discoms have not proposed a tariff hike despite rising coal prices. The decision was taken as the consolidated revenue shortfall for all four discoms is estimated to be Rs 12.07 billion, which can be met through efficiency improvement measures. The last tariff hike for these state-run discoms was in 2015-16.
