Egypt’s EETC signs two contracts with Beglian Elia Grid International

The state-owned Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) has signed two contracts with the Belgian Elia Grid International, for the provision of consulting services for Egypt’s electricity sector.

The first contract, which will span for a period of nine months, includes a review of Egypt’s dynamic model of the unified electrical network, as well as planning for upcoming grid interconnection projects with neighbouring nations and the European continent. Further, Elia will help EETC in preparing the necessary scenarios to deal with any emergency conditions. Under the second 11-month contract, Elia Grid will offer consulting services related to studying the needs of the unified network to accommodate renewable energies for green hydrogen projects. These consultancy services contract for studying the requirements for strengthening the network aims to tackle the expected huge increase in the production of energies from renewable sources. Notably, by 2035, Egypt wants to increase its reliance on new and renewable energy sources to 42 per cent.
