Greenko Group has signed an agreement to purchase 28 units of 5 MW alkaline electrolysers from Belgium-based John Cockerill for use in the development of a green ammonia plant in Una, Himachal Pradesh.
Greenko’s order expands on the company’s existing collaboration with John Cockerill, which includes the joint development of a 2 GW per year electrolyser manufacturing plant in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh. Greenko ZeroC Private Limited, a subsidiary of Greenko Group, and John Cockerill are working together to develop a plant with a capacity of 300 metric tonnes per day. It will allegedly be India’s largest green ammonia plant till date, and will contribute to the country’s efforts to build large-scale green hydrogen production capacity. The electrolysers are scheduled to arrive in March 2024, and the plant is scheduled to be operational by June 2024.
