The 1.375 GW Mentarang Induk power plant will be located on the Mentarang river and is expected to come online in 2030. Once operational, the facility can generate around 9 TWh per annum. The renewable energy generated will be supplied to a planned industrial park in North Kalimantan. The park will feature electric vehicle and battery plants as well as aluminium and petrochemical facilities.
