Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Energy and Samruk-Kazyna, the sovereign wealth fund of Kazakhstan, has signed a partnership agreement with Saudi Arabia-based private developer, ACWA Power, to develop a 1 GW wind energy and battery storage project in Kazakhstan.
The project marks ACWA Power’s entry into Kazakhstan, with an initial investment of USD 1.5 billion. It aims to support national climate action, renewables integration, and sustainable development efforts through innovation and technology integration. It is designed to successfully decarbonise fossil fuel-based power generation. The project is expected to be completed by 2027.
