The Mizoram government has, reportedly, prepared detailed project reports (DPRs) for five hydroelectric power plants (HEP) in the state with a total generation capacity of around 800 MW.
These projects include the 460 MW Kolodyne-II HEP, 210 MW Tuival HEP, 80 MW Bairabi Dam Project, 24 MW Tuirini HEP and 24 MW Tuivawl HEP. Four more proposed HEPs are under investigation stage. Currently, Mizoram has no major power project and the state presently imports power from the four regional power plants in Tripura, spending around Rs 4 billion annually for the purchase of power from outside.
