Reportedly, the Airport Authority of India (AAI) has given a target to the airports to achieve 100 per cent use of green energy by 2024 and net zero by 2030.
Cochin Airport is the first green airport in the world which is completely powered by solar energy. Apart from Cochin, Mumbai and 25 other AAI Airports are using 100 per cent green energy. The 25 airports include Shimla, Kullu, Jammu, Srinagar, Leh, Imphal, Pakyong, Pantnagar, Dehradun, Dimapur, Jalgaon, Puducherry, Gondia, Sholapur, Kanpur (Civil), Hubballi, Belagavi, Mysore, Tezu, Kangra, Kohlapur, Pune, Aurangabad, Akola, and Juhu. Notably, AAI has given targets to achieve 100 per cent green energy at its remaining operational airports by 2024.
