CERC notifies Connectivity and General Network Access to the inter-State Transmission System (First Amendment) Regulations, 2023 and its effective date

The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) has notified the Connectivity and General Network Access to the inter-State Transmission System (First Amendment) Regulations, 2023.

Among other things, the amendment adds a new clause and defines general network access-renewable energy (GNARE) as the open access to the interstate transmission system granted under these regulations for drawal of power exclusively from the renewable sources. Further, it defines temporary general network access-renewable energy (T-GNARE) as the T-GNA open access to the ISTS granted under these regulations for drawal of power exclusively from the renewable sources.

It has been notified that the first amendment regulations will come into force with effect from April 5, 2023 except amended provisions of Regulations 23.1, 24.2, 24.3, 34.2, 34.3 and 34.4 and new regulations 26.4, 26.5 and 26.6 of GNA Regulations. Further, regulations 40.2 to 40.4, sub-clauses (a) and (b) of regulation 43.1, regulation 37.1 to 37.8, and the provisions regarding fresh applications for connectivity and GNA and their processing and grant will be made effective from April 5, 2023.
