DERC issues wind and hydro power purchase obligation till 2026

The Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) has issued the DERC (Renewable Purchase Obligation and Renewable Energy Certificate Framework Implementation) (First Amendment) Regulations, 2023.

Under this amendment, DERC has notified the renewable purchase obligation (RPO) trajectory till 2025-26. The wind RPO will be met by wind projects commissionedafter March 31, 2022. The extra wind energy consumed above 7 per cent of total energy consumption from installations completed by March 31, 2022 may also satisfy the wind RPO. According to the regulator, the hydropower purchase obligation (HPO) can only be met by energy generated by large hydro projects, pumped storage projects and small hydro projects that were commissioned after March 8, 2019. Hydro power imported from outside India will not be considered for meeting HPO.
