Torrent Power to supply 920 MW power from its gas-based plants

Torrent Power Limited has bagged a contract to supply 920 MW gas based electricity from its DGEN and SUGEN plants under a tender floated by NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Limited (NVVNL).

Notably, the Ministry of Power had designated NVVNL as the nodal agency for procurement of up to 4,000 MW power from gas-based plants during identified crunch period of April 10, 2023 to May 16, 2023, with actual offtake for 21 days. NVVNL had floated a tender for the same on March 10, 2023. Torrent Power had participated in the e-tender and subsequent electronic reverse auction, was awarded 920 MW – 770 MW from DGEN plant and 150 MW from SUGEN plant. The cost of power is function of fuel cost (Rs 8.80 per unit) and other fixed cost (Rs 4.90 per unit including regasification, taxation, transportation, water, operation and maintenance, power exchange, deviation settlement mechanism charges, applicable penalties for non availability of plant and non-supply of power, etc.).
