Reportedly, Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) will supply 3.55 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of coal to the new 800-MW unit (unit 3, Stage-II) of the Sri Damodaram Sanjeevaiah Thermal Power Station (SDSTPS) situated near Nellore, Andhra Pradesh.
MCL has issued permission for the supply of coal as per fuel supply agreement with effect from May 1, 2023. Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation Limited (APGenco) and Andhra Pradesh Power Development Company Limited (APPDCL) have 5,811 MW of thermal and 7,989 MW of total installed capacity, for which they have fuel supply agreement for supply of coal from MCL for a quantity of 17.2 mtpa and from Singareni Coal Collieries limited (SCCL) for a quantity of 6.9 mtpa.
