CIL’s coal production recorded at 57.6 mt in April 2023

Coal India Limited’s (CIL) coal production in April 2023 grew by 7.7 per cent to 57.6 million tonnes (mt).

The volume increase of 4.1 mt was achieved over a high base of 53.5 mt of April 2022. All the subsidiaries of CIL have registered the highest ever production for the month of April 2023, except Eastern Coalfields Limited. Further, CIL has recorded 31 per cent growth in over burden removal (OBR) in April 2023 compared to same month year ago. This helps in stepping up production in the upcoming monsoon months. The company also recorded 44 per cent year-on-year growth in supplies to non-regulated sector. CIL excavated 169.5 million cubic metres of over burden in April 2023 achieving 109 per cent target satisfaction. The growth was 31 per cent compared to 129.6 million cubic metres in April 2022.
