The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has stated that the time-extensions mentioned in MNRE’s earlier letters dated December 29, 2022 and January 25, 2023 for solar photovoltaic (PV)/ solar PV-wind hybrid power projects are not general blanket extensions.
The renewable energy implementing agencies (REIAs) (Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited/ NTPC Limited/ NHPC Limited) have been directed to diligently examine, on case-to-case basis, the requests received by them for seeking extensions, and grant time-extensions in only such cases where the developer has diligently taken steps to complete the project, but has not been able to complete the project for reasons beyond its control. Where the developer has taken no steps to implement the project but is merely sitting on the award, such projects will not qualify for extension; and the consequence of cancellation of the project will follow. This policy will apply to all cases of request for a grant of extension.
