NTPC to conduct feasibility study for 130 MW floating solar power plant in Tripura’s Dumbur Lake

Reportedly, NTPC Limited is set to embark on a feasibility study for a 130 MW floating solar power plant on Dumbur Lake in Gomati district, Tripura.

This initiative aims to significantly bolster the state’s renewable energy capacity. Over the past five years, Tripura has already witnessed a commendable increase in solar power, surging from 4.07 MW to 7.21 MW. Tripura Renewable Energy Development Agency has signed a memorandum of understanding with NTPC to facilitate the feasibility study for this floating power plant. Under the study, the NTPC will examine the area of the waterbody required to be taken up for the plant, and identify local transfer stations. The feasibility study is projected to cost Rs 4.50 billion and is expected to be completed within the next few months.
