Siemens Energy completes deployment of four substations in Egypt

Siemens Energy, in consortium with Giza Systems, has successfully deployed four mobile substations for the state-owned Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC).

The new substations are expected to improve power connectivity and resilience of Egypt’s national grid, and ensure power stability in remote areas that need urgent power supply to support ongoing projects, including agricultural projects. The scope included two 220 kV gas-insulated switchgear (GIS), two 66 kV GIS, two 220/22 kV power transformers with capacity of 60 MVA per unit, two 66/22 kV power transformers with 40 MVA capacity, 22 kV medium-voltage switchgear, AC/DC distribution ports, auxiliary transformers, and control and protection systems. The mobile substations will provide an overall 200 MVA to help transport power in fast-track mode to projects, until the finalisation of conventional substations for power feed.
