Pakistan’s high voltage grid developer, National Transmission and Despatch Company (NTDC), has completed the 500 kV Thar–Matiari transmission line ahead of time within a record two and a half months, enhancing energy connectivity and meeting national power demands.
The project envisages the construction of 220-km-long, 500 kV double-circuit (D/C) transmission line from the 1,320 MW Shanghai Electric coal plant inThar to the Matiari switching station near Hyderabad, along with the construction of two line bays/shunt reactors at the Matiari switching station at an investment of PKR15 billion. The timely completion of the Thar–Matiari transmission line is a substantial step towards ensuring energy security and driving development. It will alleviate the power sector’s burden and contribute to meeting the growing energy demands of the nation. NTDC’s efficient execution reflects its commitment to delivering critical infrastructure for the country’s progress.
