China’s State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC) has successfully operationalised the 171-km, 500 kV line between Shanxi Yushe switching station and 1,000 kV Jinzhong substation.
The works involved the construction of 207 new towers. The project is the first of seven west-to-east power transmission channel adjustment projects put into operation in Shanxi, with the others expected in 2024. Once operationalised, these projects will improve the overall power transmission capacity of Shanxi Power Grid, and effectively promote energy consumption, as SGCC will be able to derive the full benefits of the large-capacity, ultra-high voltage transmission channels.
