Pakistan and China sign USD4.8 billion nuclear power plant deal

Pakistan and China have signed a USD4.8 billion deal to build a 1,200 MW nuclear power plant.

China National Nuclear Cooperation and Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission have signed memorandum of understanding for the Chashma 5 project. The project work is slated to being soon. The Chashma 5 project will be built in the central province of Punjab. China’s support will help Pakistan make the transition away from reliance on fossil fuels. China has already disbursed an initial USD104.53 million to start the project.
