SJVN signs PUA with PSPCL to supply 500 MW solar power to Punjab

SJVN Limited has signed a power usage agreement (PUA) with Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) for 500 MW solar power.

The 500 MW solar power capacity will be supplied to PSPCL by SJVN from its under-construction 1,000 MW Bikaner solar power project in Rajasthan.  SJVN had awarded the project’s engineering, procurement, and construction contract, worth Rs 54.91 billion, to Tata Power Solar Systems Limited. The project is being executed by SJVN’s subsidiary, SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL), and is expected to be commissioned by March 2024. Upon completion, the Bikaner solar power project will generate 2,455 million units (MUs) in its first year and a total of 56,838 MUs over 25 years. The power generated by the project will be used by government entities, either directly or through discoms. For the remaining 500 MW capacity, SGEL is in advance stage of discussions with various discoms.
