Thailand’s EGAT inaugurates Chonburi 2 substation

The Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) has formally inaugurated the Chonburi 2 substation, which will enhance transmission capacity and ensure system security, as well as support the growth of the economy, tourism, and investment in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), which includes the Chonburi, Chachoengsao and Rayong provinces.

The Chonburi 2 substation, located in the 69-Rai area, is a 230 kV facility that includes a switchyard, an advanced gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) system building, and a secured control centre. It is interconnected with the Phan Thong, Ao Phai and Bo Win substations in Chonburi Province. Construction of the substation was completed earlier, and it has been supplying power to the system since May 2023.
