Bangladesh PGCB commissions second circuit of 400 kV transmission line

Bangladesh’s Power Grid Company of Bangladesh Limited (PGCB) has successfully commissioned the second circuit of the 400 kV Aminbazar–Meghnaghat transmission line.

The line is now connected from the Aminbazar grid substation to the newly constructed 400/230 kV grid substation at Meghnaghat. Earlier, on June 25, 2023, the first circuit of 400 kV of this line was commissioned. With both circuits now operational at 400 kV, the line has reached its full capacity. The country has made significant progress in expanding its electricity transmission infrastructure, currently comprising more than 15,467 circuit-km (ckm) of lines and 61,525 MVA of transformer capacity, compared to 8,000 ckm and 15,870 MVA in 2009.
